Hi, My son was persuaded to use UW, 3 months later after a lot of trouble, he has tried to cancel and they have take 700 out of his bank 'cancellation charges' anyone else know anything about these very steep cancellation charges?  He was told it would be 400, which is bad enough.

Have you and your son read the Ts & Cs through carefully?  Is this a domestic or business contract?

Were UW even offering a fixed contract at that time? If he was on a variable tariff then I can't see why there would be any exit fees at all?

Are these exit fees for the fuel contract or cancellation fees for the other bundled services?

Now that sounds like a strong possibility...
