Recently paid a deposit on a two week stay at a flat in Brixham South Devon. The deposit was for a booking in June 2024 (yes 2024 not 2023). Despite the booking being 381 days before we arrived the company (Original Cottages) refused to return the deposit because the terms and conditions state no deposit refund even if you give more than 63 days notice. After some exchanges of e mails the deposit was returned but there was no indication the terms and conditions would be changed. This means that the company will take two deposits for the same booking as the flat in question is heavily booked (hence why we booked so far in advance) and they do not feel this is unacceptable. This is a warning to other possible customers
