Waiting over a month for laptop screen replaced- help needed

Hi everyone, first time posting here. I paid for a repair shop to fix my laptop (new screen) on the 11th May. I was told that it should be done within a couple days. I still don’t have it. Been asking for updates through message, with various responses that he’s still waiting for the screen to turn up. Then my last update was on the 25th May where he said the company sent a faulty screen and he was waiting for a replacement. And that it should be here by the weekend. I’ve heard nothing since.

What rights do I have on this? I want to get my laptop back and get a refund (assuming it hasn’t been fixed). Can he refuse either? What should I do? I need help please

He should have shown you his terms and conditions before you agreed to the repair.
Some shops offer 'no fix, no fee' - if they can't fix it within a certain time you can cancel the deal.

If no timeframes were specified by either you or him then you both have to be 'reasonable'. Waiting for parts to arrive, even several weeks, sounds reasonable.

You can cancel the contract by demanding your property back. It is a consumer contract so he can't charge a penalty for this, just his actual costs. Costs will include time for researching and ordering a new screen and sound like they will also include time for dissembling your laptop, fitting the faulty replacement then taking it out again. They will also include buying a specific screen he now has no use for. In practice you will probably have to pay almost as much as the completed repair.

What would I do?  I would cut him some slack but try to negotiate a discount when the job is done.
