Asda pay at pump

Asda now say that the transaction doesn't exist on their system and the bank are responsible for the holding fee. Honestly, I have never known such incompetence.born_again said:Auth will drop off after 14 days (10 working days)
So in OP's case it will have cleared by 27 June.
Any error is with Asda, as their system has not matched the transactions up.
Bank could be more helpful, if you are short of funds, by taking the auth out of their system. Which free's up the funds. But they would have to warn you that it does not remove the auth from the system & it could still debit your account.
But you would need to get passed front line call center staff, who will (for good reason) not have the power to do this & it should fall under disputes teams remit to do this with suitable warnings.

It is very unfortunate for you that the mix up between Asda and the bank has caused you to be out of pocket. I really hope that it gets sorted out soonkdex said:

If you can't get one then fair enough, but choosing not to does leave you more susceptible to temporary cashflow issues like this (regardless of whose fault they are), and if you're just starting a business then if possible it would be prudent to build some slack to avoid situations like this becoming crises....kdex said:
not everyone can get, or wants a credit card 👍3 -
Some of my local pay at pump filling stations give you the option to select the amount of fuel required - say, £20, £40, full tank etc. It’s only when choosing full tank that £99 get authorised. In all other circumstances, only the amount selected gets authorised. I assume that’s not an option at all pay at pumps?Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

That was actually what I would have suggested as a solution but I've not seen it used anywhere as yet.Money_Grabber13579 said:Some of my local pay at pump filling stations give you the option to select the amount of fuel required - say, £20, £40, full tank etc. It’s only when choosing full tank that £99 get authorised. Some of our local Tesco stores pay at pumps have it, not sure if it still ringfences £99 and just limits the pump, or if it ringfences the amount entered.0 -
If only If had a £1 for every time a retailer blames the bank for their error.kdex said:

But the above will have no access to finance systems. So they will not even look for the payment, as time & date, location & amount would give them this. If you could give them transaction code. Even easier.

It seems to be available on the modern Esso pumps, they also have the ability to choose the desired monetary value of fuel and they will stop filling when they reach that even if paying in kiosk.tightauldgit said:

It was available on the old pumps that wasn't self serve.MattMattMattUK said:It seems to be available on the modern Esso pumps, they also have the ability to choose the desired monetary value of fuel and they will stop filling when they reach that even if paying in kiosk.
You would tell the person how much you wanted hand them the cash, they would set the amount, put the pump in the car, and go to another customer, do the same, then come back remove the pump
