Cancellation of life insurance

I am hoping for some advice please. I had a life insurance policy, through Barclays, for more than 20 years. During Covid, I received a letter to say that the provider was no longer offering the insurance and that my policy was being cancelled. I had paid quite a lot of money each month for a long time and I am wondering whether it is legal to just cancel an insurance policy like this?

Are you sure it was a Life Insurance policy, these run for the term of the policy agreed at outset and cannot be cancelled by the Insurer unless you fail to pay the premium or it's discovered you failed to disclose relevant information on the application.

The policy you have is more than likely an ASU type ( providing cover for Accident Sickness & Unemployment ) though you may not have a policy that covers all those risks.

These Policies are typically annually renewable contracts  (like car or house insurance is) so its perfectly legal for the insurer to decline to offer a renewal.
