Flipkey / Airbnb / Holiday Lettings - advertising accommodation not available for price listed

Hi All,

I found some cheap flights for next summer (2024) to Majorca so thought I would look at villas to book separately.  Found loads on the above platforms for under £1500 so I went ahead and booked the flights.  I then tried to book the villa's and everyone has come back to me and said they haven't set the prices yet for 2024 and cancelled the booking?!

I just find it unbelievable that this can happen.  Now when I am looking I have no idea if its the correct price or not.  I have reported it to Airbnb but doubt much will get done.   I have probably contacted 10+ villas.  Anyone else had a similar issue - how can this be allowed?  I think I am just going to pay a bit more and use booking.com or James's villas - never had an issue with them just really annoyed about it.

I think Flipkey/HolidayLettings are the same company, as is Trip Advisor.

We advertise with them and have expressly turned OFF 'instant booking' for this very reason - we prefer not to accept bookings instantly, but 'send a quote' when we have considered the situation.

They do however push their advertisers to use the 'instant booking' so maybe some not as observant as me have just pressed OK to the pop up ... perhaps!
