Holiday Insurance for my 14 year old

My daughter lives with her mother but she's coming on holiday with me. I need to get her some travel insurance but because she's less than 18 years old, it wont let me buy some just for her. I already have an annual insurance policy so dont want to pay for extra for myself.

Anyone else been in this situation? What did you do?

Have you spoken to your insurers to ask about adding her to your policy?

To answer your question: No, however two things on that:
    1. usually making changes to insurances means admin costs plus the cost of her trip
    2. Mine is an annual insurance, which will have just enough to run, she only needs a single trip

    1) Travel insurance doesn't typically have fees because what's to change? Price is based on destinations, your age etc and so a change of address or such isnt a rating factor.

    2) Still worth a call, in my opinion, cost of a minor with no pre-existing conditions (assuming) is going to be peanuts as long as it doesn't include the USA... we used to inc the ex's kids as standard just incase they came with us

A quick check shows that Staysure appear happy quoting for a minor, just put yourself as the organiser and her as the traveller. Would image there are others as Staysure are generally fairly run of the mill in their rules.

Does her mother have an annual family policy, if so she might be covered as they sometimes cover "independant" travel ie travel without the adult(s) named on the policy. Worth checking.
