This may be something simple So I though I would ask if anyone has had similar.

I pay £136 on DD to SSE on the first of each month, I have paid it in may and June and had approx £272 on my account in credit towards the next bill mid July..

I just noticed today it says I only have £79 in balance.

I had no debt to them, I am struggling to work out where to £200 odd has gone, bills not due till mid July and I can not see the money anywhere.

Any ideas? I will be calling them tomorrow to find out unless Its something simple I have missed.

They could have done an update with an estimated reading on that date - to try and make sure the "right" amount is charged on each tariff.

Do not waste your time calling them. First give it a few days for a bill to appear in the account, it will likely all make sense when that happens. If it does not then send an email/message through the site/webchat so it is documented, that way if you need to raise a complaint you have a paper trail.
  • and (assuming you're not got a working Smart Meter) provide them with an up to date reading in case the estimate used is incorrect.

Have you had any notification of the forced move to OVO as they have to move credit over at that point.

(they raise a final estimated bill on the SSE platform, move the account balances to OVO, and then correct it later down the line).

If you're complaining about SSE you can go to the ombudsman after six weeks rather than the normal eight.  That was agreed because their customer service was so bad.
