Electricity & Gas Supplier Area Map?

I'm with Octopus and can see from the unit charges on my bills that I'm apparently in the N Wales & Merseyside Area. We live in Shropshire and come under Shropshire CC for Council Tax, West Midlands for Ambulances & Traffic, Midlands ( Shropshire Telford & Wrekin) NHS, and West Mercia Police.
I'm trying to find out why we are in N Wales & Merseyside for fuel, partly because Electricity unit charge is highest & Gas 4th highest, but partly just curiosity.
My searching skills have let me down. Also, is this area information recorded anywhere in my Octopus account?
Can anyone help please?

    Historically you got your elec from MANWEB   Merseyside and North Wales and they continue to be your DNO

    It's part of the MPAN number on your bill, afaik every bill has to carry it, see the structure section for a guide and a map on link below

    Plenty of maps for areas on line too - but they are generally similar scale.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meter_Point_Administration_Number

    First 2 digits bottom line - distributor ID -  should be 13.

    I've no idea as we only moved here 2 years ago, but don't understand your reply.
    I looked at the DNO areas, but the border outlines don't help as they show only lines on a map of the UK, with no detailed county borders or locations.
    I know our Electricity is SP Energy Networks & Gas is Cadent. But Cadent covers a huge area, so back to my question - why are we in N  Wales & Merseyside?
    I'm happy to do more research if I know what I'm looking for.

    The electricity companies did not restrict themselves to county boundaries -  what they supplied was where the need was or where the physical barriers were.  I used to work for MEB -  we supplied bits of Wales and even Bristol

    Can you give us the first part of your postcode please.

    Edit    from Wikipedia "SP Manweb is the regional electricity distribution network operator (DNO) for MerseysideNorth Wales and parts of Cheshire. It is now part of SP Energy Networks,

    Worth noting that some DNOs cover multiple regions - e.g. National Power cover East Midlands, Midlands and other areas.

    You, like me, have chosen a bad place to live with regards to energy standing charges. I get my water from Severn Trent and pay Welsh Water for surface water/drainage. A lot of this is down to past history and the days of nationalised industries.

    Thanks for all comments

    @Scot39
    It is indeed 13

    @Robin9
    No problem. It’s SY4

    @frugalmacdugal
    Thats the sort of map I had found. However it’s not detailed enough as it shows no cities, towns, rivers, borders or other reference points. Looking at it I would say we were in Midlands😉

    Looks that way. Although I don’t think our ST metered water supply is expensive.
