That is exactly my setup and like you also suffer from clogged ink jet heads unless I use the printer at least once a once to print a photo

Although I'm a cheapskate and just get the cheap ebay specials when I need ink

    I'm a cheapskate also.

I bought a second-hand Xerox phaser 6250 colour laser network printer almost 25 years ago for about £80. It is plugged into my router with an ethernet cable so we can wirelessly print to it. I buy cheap colour toner cartridges CMYK on eBay which last for ages.

It has never missed a beat and has seen my and my daughter through three degrees as well as loads of other projects.

It will still be going strong long after I am dead.

Some posters in the past have mentioned that most printer software updates are attempts to lock out cheaper generic cartridges so you should be wary about this.

Thats right one of the worst ones is hp for this , never do a firmware update on a printer it is unnecessary, it's   why I now recommend refillable printers they can't stop you banging any old ink in!
