Hi all,
I have a strange situation with my laptop currently.
I turned it on this morning and the CD drive will not open or close- no whirring sound or lights on it either as it normally would- rest of laptop working fine
I tried troubleshooting and it says the device is working and I have additionally been in Device Manager/ Media Player which shows the drive and no errors- have tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers. However, file explorer hasn't got it listed
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance

There should be a small hole on the face of the CD drive.
Push an unbent paper clip or similar into that hole and the drive should eject.
That may or may not fix the problem.A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".1 -
Try typing in the drive letter into explorer (usually d: or e:) and see if it appears. It might be accidentally hidden.1

Windows 7 update killed CD's exactly like that some years back. Small edit to the registry cured it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
