Breakdown cover with dog

They won't tow a 4wd with any wheels on the road, or a 2wd with the driving wheels on the road as it will cause transmission damage in a very short distance. They need those little dollies to put under the back wheels and then lift the front, so they'd be jacking the car up anyway I suppose.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I didn't realise that, seen them on TV remove the drive when towing HGVsfacade said:They won't tow a 4wd with any wheels on the road, or a 2wd with the driving wheels on the road as it will cause transmission damage in a very short distance. They need those little dollies to put under the back wheels and then lift the front, so they'd be jacking the car up anyway I suppose.0 -
People over emphasize the danger of dogs in cars, the dogs were perfectly ok when the owner was in the car.facade said:In cooler weather they'd likely just leave The Dog in your car whilst it was being towed/recovered on the back of the truck. In this insufferable heat without the aircon or forced ventilation it would probably kill it.
Windows half way down with water, also moving, perfectly ok.0 -
You maybe missing the point that the van may not have spare space , for a crate & fixing to hold in place, Or any means to have a dog/dogs strapped in the van if not in a crate.sevenhills said:

Windows half way down with water, also moving, perfectly ok.OK when the aircon/cabin ventilation was going full blast. Now I could wind down the windows (that actually open) in mine to less than the width of The Dog's head I suppose and hope that the glass doesn't shatter if she tries to get out through the gap.But I wouldn't trust The Dog to stay nicely in her little harness if I were sat in a van and she were on her own in the car.

A dog is fine with windows open when moving.
On a hot day the problem would be whilst loading the car onto the transporter as no forced air ventilation. This does take time as car has to be well secured with multiple ratcheted devices. They are fully within their rights to refuse to take a dog in the passenger or drivers compartment unless there is reliable restraint. In a large cab with room for passenger it should be possible to restrain a dog if there is a secure fixing to clip a lead onto.
my original question was how do I get this covered? And I don’t think you can.
so if a breakdown happened a long way from home it could really problematic. 2 of us plus dog could not sleep in a car full of luggage.0 -
Why would you be sleeping in the car?lisyloo said:A dog is fine with windows open when moving.

Where would we leave the dog if we were a long way from home and couldn't find dog friendly accomodation or kennels at very short notice?sheramber said:

If you have any solutions that I'm not seeing then that would be fantastic.
