Good morning. No bright sunshine yet though it's very muggy. Off for coffee.

I'm fuelled up now. ☕️My main task yesterday was watering the roses at the front door. The small runt bush had wilting flowers on it, the big bush was on the verge of the same. Both got a good soaking then I watered the rose tree in the back garden. Later in the evening I watered the whole back garden and picked a handful of strawberries. The sun was too hot to sit in for long so I wandered in and out a few times. The washing dried in record time.I really like having my front door open on fine days but get plagued by flies. The other day I read about spraying a strong smelling essential oil around which flies hate. I have eucalyptus oil so tried that - what a joy! I can hardly believe how effective it was. Next I'll try lavender. An email came through from Avanti West Coast with an automatic 50% refund of my train fare for the return leg. 🎉There's no need for any shopping, I want to make inroads in my stocks instead. I'll just get veggies next time.Hugs to our poorlies. Happy Saturday to all.10

Morning all I am home from my travels the journey home was surprisingly trouble free for a Friday anyway the washing begins and i need to go shopping as the fridge is empty then a good tidy up . My favourite port stops were Madeira and Lisbon I would love to return to both for a long weekend one day . The garden isn't finished yet maybe next week but who knows i will be glad when its done as the dirt and dust is everywhere .
Hope everyone is well i haven't read back yet so i hope you have all been enjoying the heatwave i left you with and making sure you drink plenty and stay in the shade during the hottest times of the day

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Glad you are rid of the pesky flies. I remember reading that they don't like lavender oil in particular. Welcome back BELLA.
I want to catch the first bus down to town as I have a script to collect from B**ts and I want to pop into H & B as well for one or two bits. It was due to close last year but at the last minute got a reprieve so fingers crossed we keep it. I don't go in a lot these days but I'd miss it if we lost it.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies or getting better. TAFF I hope the lump has gone down and NAN I hope your DN continues to make progress. Take care all be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -
Morning everyone and thank you for starting us off Gers.
It's another sunny day here and I am off this morning with neighbours for a day out.
Yes, flies can be a nuisance this weather.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend. x11 -

Welcome back Bella - good to hear that you had a wonderful time.Seems that torrential rain hit Glasgow yesterday and got as far up as Arrochar before swerving round the mountains. We'll probably get rain today, watering the garden is a sure fire way of enticing rain.
The sky is not exactly dark but the light is slowly going.
I always buy those beautiful blousey peonies every year, recent ones were bright pink and faded to white. Only problem is that they shed hundreds of tiny wee leaves. My job this morning is to vacuum them up from the hard to reach window sill. Serves me right I suppose.Rooting in the freezer has uncovered lots and lots of vegetables and meat. Happy days.11 -
Morning all, not to boast but we had rain early this morning ! The air feels fresher and cooler already, it was so hot and muggy last night so it is most welcome. At least I don't have to water the flowers tonight and the browning grass should appreciate a drink too.
There was no news yesterday about DNiece so hopefully things went well 🤞. I couldn't sit still in the afternoon so I baked a cake using up some browning bananas, stewed several pears which had gone too soft for me and made a pot of jam with some of last years haul of blackberries found in my freezer sort out. Mr Fix It cleaned the outside of the windows at the back of the house while I kept him on his toes with my " you've missed a bit ! " comments 😁
Mr Fix It has gone to his friend's to change the brake discs on the car so he'll probably be gone all day. I need to dust and hoover through downstairs and put some braising steak with onions in the slow cooker, then the day is my own.
Bella welcome back.
Gers I think peppermint oil works on spiders so perhaps flies won't like it either.
Take care all, hugs to the poorly or worried.
