OK to supply Bank Account details over the internet?

No sure if this is the correct forum and if I'm worrying too much.
I bought an item over the internet from a 'shop front' type company like ebay (but not ebay). The seller sent me the wrong item and refunded me to the Credit Card account that I used to buy the item. They also agreed to refund the return postage but they say they can't refund it to the credit card, so would I give them my Bank account name, number and sort code. The 'shop front' have also said that the seller can only refund the original cost of the item to the credit card.
The request is made using the shop fronts internal message system which presumably is not publicly accessible (I have to sign in to use it).
So is it safe for me to supply the details via this message system? Am I worrying too much?

I wouldn't see a problem in providing the information - after all, if you pay for something by cheque (admittedly rare these days) you are providing the other party with your bank account details.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3662

If you're worried, open a 2nd ac with nothing in it and give them that.1

Bank details are intended to be given to people who need to pay you. But of course they won't need your online banking username and password or other sensitive info, so give them only what is required to send the payment

Out of curiosity, how did you pay for the postage?

Credit Card. I use my Bank Card only for the occasional small cash withdrawal nowadays.MisterMotivated said:Out of curiosity, how did you pay for the postage?0
