Parking Eye v Beavis

I think that it was between £100 and £200 in total, possibly paid by the whip round that people contributed to, or from the profits from his fish and chip shop 😬
I believe that it was paid when his appeal failed, not after the Supreme Court verdict later on
I expect that he didn't pay for any transcript either1 -
No, it was £85. That's all. Not even any fees.
Barry was used as a way for ParkingEye to get a useful decision. They knew what they were doing and he was very badly advised, IMHO.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Well today I had my day in court.
In Feb 22 I foolishly pulled over to deal with what I knew would be a long call - straight into a private car park surrounded by free parking.
The letter duly arrived - but not the first one offering a concession - the second demanding a higher fee because I hadn't responded to the first - that I had never seen.
Correspondence ebbed and flowed
I responded by email. The company responded that they don't conduct business by email. Needless to say by email!
Invoices for varying amounts were received. There was no consistency and then it all went quiet for fifteen months - and then the legal threat of small claims started.
It reached court today.
The company in addition to the foregoing had contradicted itself so I was hopeful of a win - but
The judge first established that by parking I had committed myself
Then he took on the company for their poor performance
He established that if I had received the first letter that I might have paid the concessionary demand
And that is how it went.
I was required to pay the concessionary £60 not the £100 as in Beavis and I had to pick up the company costs - which rankled- but the outcome was less than I had been threatened with - a score draw perhaps - and a salutary reminder to look around before switching the engine off.
