Chase to Lloyds Switch Failed - next steps?

Options
I recently applied to switch from Chase to Lloyds using the current account switching service to gain the £150 bonus.

First hurdles all cleared, got email from Lloyds with new account number etc.

Had an email from Chase this morning as I have some (small) amounts in related savings/round up account and these need to be closed first - then try again says the email.

Have logged in to Chase and moved the residual amounts to the main current account and "closed" the savings/round up accounts.

Question is - do I need to start the process again? If so, presumably as I now have a Lloyds account, it's not going to recognize me as a new customer?

Any idea how to tackle it? Or will the switch recommence automatically (the email does not suggest this is the case)

    You usually have a period of time to complete a switch in, it doesn't need to be initiated when you open the account

    For free, non-judgemental debt advice, try: Stepchange or National Debtline. Beware fee charging companies with similar names.
  • Hi @mr_stripey, sorry to dig up an old thread, but what you've described is my exact situation right now. May I ask if and how you solved it? I'm on the phone to Lloyds, but they are giving me the run around.

    Thanks!

    Folks need to be aware of this with Chase, I got tripped up having 20P interest in an open savings account when I attempted to switch. So yes I had to start the process all over again. Lucky for me Co-Op said I was still within the time frame to re do the switch so it worked out for me. No sure how you will come off with Lloyds
    I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
    The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
    I listen all night for your step on the stair.

    I had exactly the same problem -;the switch failed because I had an open Chase roundup account with zero in it

    close all other Chase accounts even if they have zero balance and then re-initiate the switch ie start again
