My lad and his family moved abroad earlier this year, and what they couldn't ship was given away to friends/family/neighbours/charity shops etc., basically anyone who will take it. The problem for them was that they needed some of it until they moved, but couldn't leave any of it behind. Having someone take the remnants on a day that suits them will be a godsend. I'd just offer to take the stuff off their hands and maybe buy them some nice wine and chocs.

We are completing end of this month, then 2 weeks of some building work, due to move in a week before they fly out, so they have a whole month to choose from. I think you guys are right, just book a van and load everything on, even if I have to pay for disposal later on from our end, I think it would still be a cost worth paying. I was thinking, what if they offered all the plates and bowls and forks etc? Hahaha... we don't need them but I guess stuff like those could always be given away? Much better than them end up in a landfill.

I was able to freecycle all my kitchen stuff when I did a mass clearout. I took pictures of bags and bags of kitchen items and stuck it on freecycle and people were biting my hand off. I have a feeling they sell stuff at bootfairs. Fair enough! I just said "no picking through" so they had to take the lot.

Maybe I will take the whole lot from my friends and sell them on, we can then split the profit 50/50. That might not be a bad idea.

The only way they will get rid of everything quickly is to use a house clearance company, they will charge hundreds - or more. Just offer to take it off their hands.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

Keep the stuff you need, or is nicer than what you have now, then contact local charity places ( not shops ) . Most towns have schemes that will take furniture and appliances, and often stuff like cooking things and crockery and they give them to people who need them. Selling them will probably get you next to nothing unless it is very posh stuff, and its better for your karma to help out people in need who can't afford stuff :)

@Niy pls have a look at Olio app too. https://olioapp.com/en/

You can post the items you don't need or aren't useful as you go along and arrange convenient collection times with members. It is free to use and join although there is an option to pay a supporter's subscription if you want to but it's not obligatory.
You can also find some great stuff on there to help furnish where you still have gaps.
N.B. I'm not affiliated with it in anyway, just found it mighty useful in these times
    All the best with everything

Heart foundation will do a free collection for furniture and sfuff too if you have more than you need :) used this service a couple of times, even with bulky stuff like a sofa bed

They are very fussy about what they take and the fire safety label on a sofa has to be sewn in not just attached by any other means such as glue.

If you don't want all the items then suggest the below:

    Olio
    Freecycle
    Freegle
    Trash nothing
    Gumtree freebies
    Preloved
Charities like ymca and British heart foundation

There really is ever a reason to throw out reusable furniture when there are so many out there willing to take it.
