Home insurance for property ill be living in part time

Hi. I have recently bought a mortgaged house. We have had a change in circumstance work wise which means we will not be living in the house 24/7. We will be living in both the new house and our old one (weekends new and weekdays old most likely). This will probably be for 6 months. I have a standard home insurance policy (direct line) already in place for the new property which says it cant be left unattended for 60 days.
We will not leave it unattended for 60 days and will be there regularly including sleeping over. Nobody else will live there and we will not rent it out.
My questions is, do I need to tell my insurance company all this or will the current policy cover me still?

It would be prudent to, standard home insurance normally requires the property to be your main dwelling and this wont be the home you spend most the time in. If its every weekend they may be happy with it but it may be you'd need 2nd home insurance which allows for less frequent stays1
