The biggest issue here is probably what power you have if they say no. Do you have anything from them agreeing that they'd honour the lower price ? Or is there anything in their T&C's suggesting this ?

The risk of returning (even if there is no cost) is that you end up with no cabin - either because they're out of stock or they refuse the order.

If they say no are you prepared to keep it at the price you originally agreed to pay ?

How have you been scammed?  The vendor has no way of knowing that you checked the price the day prior to delivery so you could be trying to scam them.  You only made contact after delivery.

Just as a general observation, not directed specifically at the OP, I wonder if people would be just as happy to pay more if the price increased before order being placed and item delivered?
Bet no one ever ask that 🤣

You paid the price agreed at the point of sale. You have no legal right to any reduction..
While that is normally the correct answer to these types of questions thats not true in this case. As the sales adviser stated they would price match future drops between sale and delivery, that became part of the sales contract.
The issue is proving this contractual addition and any terms that may have been included in the contractual addition.

Firstly, that would depend on if the question was pre or post agreeing to buy it... some people do agree to an offer and only think to clarify details afterwards.

Secondly there is always is always going to be an argument about employees overstepping their mark and if its enforceable. If the agent had said if they bought it and it wasnt delivered on time they'd get £1m compensation clearly wouldnt be enforceable as its obviously an error.

Finally, in this case the stated question was about pre-delivery and the OP contacted them about the rebate post delivery and so you'd need to go into the exact nuance of what was asked/replied to be able to say if it applies or not.

    Hello!

Any help would be great. Bought a pent log cabin over the phone for £2899.99 - I asked if the price was reduced in the 4-6 weeks whilst I was waiting for delivery would I get a refund. The sales person said yes which reassured me.

Anyway - delivery was booked for Mon 12th June. On Sunday 11th in the evening I had a look at the cabin again and saw it had been reduced by £430.

I couldn't contact first thing in the morning as I had work/2 children - my husband took delivery at 4pm that day. Phoned after I got back from work and told to email customer services who are now not honouring the price drop, even though the price dropped before I took the delivery? They are saying I contacted too late (1 hr after delivery).

Is there anything I can do to take it further? Feel like I've been misled when I made the purchase originally. They're being cagey as to when they actually dropped the price too.

    Thanks for any help.
    What a shame
I think you are out of luck as a result of the delay in contacting Dunster House as they have done nothing wrong

    From their T and C

If you decide to cancel whilst the goods are being actively delivered by one of our delivery vehicles then the Company will be able to bring back those goods being delivered at that time on the same vehicle and will do so without deduction from the refund for that delivery/collection.

If you cancel any goods after they have been delivered then you will make suitable arrangements to return such Goods at your own cost and risk or you can contact us to arrange collection of the goods, this will be chargeable and the rates will be £500 for log cabins and offices, £50 for climbing frames and other products including gazebos.
