Lost pension

Can anyone help , my partner has a missing pension.she left the company in 2002 , the firm went into administration in 2010. She found some original paper work for the scheme with friends life . The scheme was transferred to aviva. She spoke to aviva and they found a letter from 2015 saying the funds were transferred to Scottish widows. However Scottish widows are saying they have no record? Pension tracing service say they have no further info ?

I think I would go back to Scottish Widows and ask them about what transfers were processed in 2014/2015, and ask them to look for your partner under any other names or nicknames she might have used, If you partner can provide some idea of the value of the transfer on 2015 that might help Scottish Widows.

I think I would ask Aviva to forward the letter to her, then check it very carefully. Sometimes there might be clues, or even a reference number that would help Scottish Widows.

I'm not sure where she could go if she doesn't have any evidence of the amount that was transferred. It is possible that a trivial sum might have been consumed in charges by now, but even so you would expect Scottish Widows to be able to evidence this.

The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Scottish Widows operate a number of different plans that operate out of different offices.    The 2015 version may be the workplace pension.    Have you checked with the different offices of SW?

Who was your partner's employer in 2015?  (don't need to know here but have you checked that their workplace pension was with SW)?

Any more info available - how long your partner was employed by the company, whether she was definitely in a pension scheme (2002 is long before auto enrolment, or even the requirement to provide a pension scheme at all, was a requirement), the name of the actual pension scheme (which might indicate what type of scheme it was)?
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

Hi , the amount transferred is on the letter , around 10k,  at the moment Scottish widows are just saying they have no record , will go back to them ,  for 4th time and insist they put it in writing.

Hi , yes we got scheme reference numbers , amount transferred,  etc but they still deny having it. Will go back to them and ask for it in writing that they don't have it , not sure after that .

Send them copies of the documents you have, which should help them to trace the transfer (or at least concentrate their minds!).
