What is exactly Company Sick Pay Offset?

I am looking for some information regarding Company sick pay offset. One of my collogue from work was on sick in March for 6 working days. At that time she was not entitled sick payment for the first 3 days, so the company paid SSP and then deducted (this is the normal procedure). So far so good, but on her pay slip there is a £294 deduction, under the name of Company sick pay offset. The payroll was informed by the team leader but since April there was no information obtained. She is still waiting and obviously getting concerned that she might not get back this money.
I would be absolutely grateful if anyone has information or ever encountered a similar situation.

Is it perhaps her actually salary to the end of the payment period, that they have taken back as she was off sick.
So they paid her the period as usual, but took of the amount she was then sick?Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

The only way to find out is for her to keep pressing the company for an answer. It's wholly unfair that this happened several months ago and she is still being kept waiting - so politeness coupled with steely determination are her next steps.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
The SSP was deducted, the first 3 days was unpaid so this amount was taken from the basic salary. Because of the cut off date 2 days were deducted in March and 1 in April.
When she got back from sick she had a back to work discussion and I was present interpreting. The team leader explained the sickness policy, sick payment, what will be paid and deducted but there was no mention of this sick pay offset.
The -£294 was some extra deduction, and so far they could not explain why?

Your colleague should ask for a written calculation of the deduction, there’s not enough information for forum members to advise here.0

The best chance for someone here to work out what is happening is if you can show the full details of the payslip that has the deduction along with same for last payslip not affected by absence. By comparing one with the other might be possible to see what is going on.0

Did you colleagues salary payment change? If it was the same as a normal month then the deduction will be the offset. If they have reduced the salary then I can't see why they would put a deduction on.0
