Is it advisable to buy used car with corrosion mentioned in last MOT's advisories?

Hello! I am looking at buying a low budget private car, used, and have no experience at all regarding potential faults and repair costs, especially corrosion. The car I am looking at is a Toyota Yaris 2009, just under 100T miles. It has MOT until December 23 and the last advisories included things listed below. The price is fairly low compared to market price but I have no clue what additional costs will come my way to address these issues:
  • Rear Brake hose has slight corrosion to ferrule Both sides
  • Offside Rear Exhaust has a minor leak of exhaust gases
  • Nearside Front Inner Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement
  • Offside Rear Integral body structure or chassis corroded within 30cm of a mounting, but not seriously affecting overall security (6.2.2 (d) (i))
  • Rear Integral body structure is corroded but structural rigidity is not significantly reduced Both sides (6.1.1 (c) (i))
  • Offside Rear Shock absorbers has slight external damage to the casing Corroded (5.3.2 (b))
  • Rear Registration plate deteriorated but not likely to be misread (0.1 (b))
I know it's impossible to say anything without seeing the car but any estimate would already help me to get a better idea of what I am looking at and if it is advisable to buy this car or leave it. I hope for a reliable car that lasts for a few of years without costing me big amounts as I am on a limited budget. The earlier MOT only mentioned a 'Rear Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material Both pipes. Before the brake hose'.

Many thanks!

Rust on a 13/14 year old vehicle is likely to be terminal.

A 14 year old car is entering the end of its life.

Brake hoses, exhaust, suspension parts are all costs to be expected on any vehicle at some point.  Its when rust becomes structural the costs mount up and the scrap yard is often the next port of call.
  • I'm certainly no expert, very far from it. I only buy low budget cars and drive them till they are scrapped.
I wouldn't touch that with a barge pole if looking for a few years usage.

Bear in mind everything is now going to be 6+ months worse than described (so possibly a fail if tested now).

Agree with everything so far.  Unless you're handy with a set of spanners and a welding kit, that is not going to be a "limited budget" car over the next few years.  Once the tin worm gets hold of it you either have to spend money - adding metal and protection - or you will soon be beyond economic repair.
