Long thin worms appeared on soil
Options
Hi all, had a bit of a freak out this worming after discovering a lot of very thin, threadworm type worms on the soil in the flower bed. We had lots of rain last night after a long period of dry weather. I would say they worms are around 1mm in width and approx 2-3 inches long, maybe longer. Any idea what these could be? I've googled a lot, but can't find anything which exactly resembles them. I thought maybe pot worms but they are only 1 inch long. The other one is horse hair worms but don't understand why they'd be living here. They seem to be waving around in the air, and just generally look a bit mad. Getting worried they are some sort of parasite!
Here are some images, sorry I couldn't resize them.

Horsehair worms. They are parasites of insects, in your case probable beetles.

Hiya, thanks for the advice. I did think it could be them, but according to online sources they live near or in water.0
