How much to repair & paint wooden windows?

Want to save up for someone to do it for me next summer, but have no idea how much it should cost. I would do it my self but occasionally have blackouts so working up a ladder is not a good idea.

Have 4 upstairs back windows that were last painted 22 years ago. they are weather worn, the paint has peeled and they have lots of cracks in the wood. I think they just need primer sealer, epoxy wood filler, sanding, repainting.

The downstairs back windows I will have a go at doing my self later this year, the front windows are all fine, face north so less sun and had large trees in the front garden so shielded from the weather.

Sounds like state my windows were in. When scaffolding went up, I got to see close up the condition of the frames - Rot had set in and was eating away at the window cills internally along with the timber trim around the reveals. The frames and external cills were beyond redemption. There is a possibility that your windows will need replacing or extensive repairs undertaken.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

rather than ask here get a coupleof painters round to give you a quote. they will be able to see it, and access for scaffold etc.  if the frames just need a rub down and a couple of licks of paint it couple be one price, if they are big bay windows with difficult access it will be totally different.  i;d suggest saving a decent contingency as i've seen 'sound' wood frames crumble (eaten from the inside out by rot).  Are they hardwood or softwood? Painting is the easy bit, its the days of prep that could be involved which will cost you.
