Drain washing machine

Hi, long post... I need to drain my washing machine manually. I'm doing it through the small emergency drain at the front. (Can't move the machine so can't reach the big pipe at the back). There's no little drain pipe. The drain knob is only 1/2 cm from the floor so I can't collect the water into a container, however shallow. I want to avoid floodding, as too near other electrical switches on the ground. I closed the knob and removed as much water as possible from the drum. Is it a big problem to leave the water there for a week? Until I buy and install a new machine? Thanks.

Your gonna have to pull out the machine to fit a new one,  then drain from the rear.

As long as the machine isn't leaking it shouldn't be a problem - at least until you need to remove machine, which is when there is a risk of flooding if the drum is full and the drain hose is unexpectedly disconnected.

Get your biggest bath towel and put it around the front of the machine.  Then use something like a baking tray to try and catch any drips as you drain the machine into a container.

Yes it will take some time if the machine is full.  But it sounds as though you've got a week to get it done.

If you leave water in there it’s going to really stink after a week

The worst I have ever had was two bath towels worth of water from the front.

I used many towels but the water also goes underneath the machine. I cannot put the towels also underneath as it is too close to the floor. The machine is also near the extension leads of other appliances appliances. Which scares me.

OP, are you sure there isn't a pull out pipe for the drain in there? Last time i drained mine, I had a towel on the floor with a tea tray on top under the front of the machine to catch any spillages. Ours did have a short pipe but had to empty the plastic jug every few minutes due to the angle.
