Word Help!

Just typed a long document and thought I had better save it, but just as I thought I had i.e. I gave it a name and then picked a file for it to go and then pressed save. Word crashed and it seems I have lost my document:mad: .
Normally if this happens word automatically saves the last document in autorecovery but it hasn't done so this time.
Could it be anywhere else? I have tried searching my drives - but no luck.
Any help gratefully received.

Sorry Crossy, sounds like it's bad news!
You didn't say which version of Word you are using, but it normally opens the recovered document when you next open Word after it crashed. If it doesn't, it's gone.
This is one of those things that happens once and you don't let happen again. Always start a document off by saving as your file name, before you type anything. That way Word will auto save periodically and if it crashes or you forget to save, at least you won't have lost the lot.
Sorry, for the bad news.0 -
Show hidden files in your C drive (Tools>Folder Options>View), and/or in the folder you normally save into, there should be a load or temporary files stored there before the crash. Duplicate them, make them visible (right click and choose properties on the file and clear the hidden check box), then try to open them and see what, if anything can be salvaged.0
