Its a quote from the Kwik Fit website, I guess its true. They seem to say only start checking them for cracking, when they are six years old, the OPs tyres are five years old.

Then again, maybe the skill is not that unique but KwikFit are training so many tyre fitters with the skill and they are bound to stay with the company for a period of time before they can leave to save the world.
I wonder what training is offered at Halfords, National Tyres, F1 Auto-Centres, ATS?
If they all offer a super-hero power, I wonder if I could work for them all in sequence for 6 months or a year each and by the end of that I'd be the comic-book champion1 -

Because they aren't getting worn out and replaced they stay on longer.

Distortion due to all the weight being on a single point long term. On a car that moves, it'll (usually) be a different part of the tyre in contact with the ground every time you stop. Wheels that aren't used tend not to have their pressures monitored and thus it the distortion can be made even worse.0 -

At this point he knew, that I knew he was lying but still refused to acknowledge it0 -
Just a quick update, had another MOT today at a more reputable garage and it passed.
I also had the tyres inspected by another garage on route, both said they were fine.
Just awaiting a response from dvsa and will complain to kwikfit head office.
