We pay to book specific seats on long haul flights.tightauldgit said:
I don't know how many people pay for a specific non-special seat to be honest - fair enough if they are sitting with their own family or paid for extra legroom etc but then I wouldn't really expect them to switch seats or ask them.TELLIT01 said:
Maybe I'm in a minority, but If I'd paid for a specific seat I certainly wouldn't switch with somebody who didn't.tightauldgit said:
If we were seated apart I'd just ask someone to switch - most people wouldn't have a problem with it.
I don't pay for seats anyway but would never have a problem switching with someone. I've volunteered it in the past when I've seen families split up. I'd probably rather move than be sat next to someone's unaccompanied child anyway.
We book the centre section either D or F one behind the other.
So I sit in the front seat and OH sits behind me.
He doesn't sleep, I do.
So I can recline my seat without upsetting the person behind me and we can both get out to go to the loo without disturbing the rest of the row.
Usually the other 2 seats are occupied by people in the same party.
I wouldn't give up my paid-for seat in those circumstances.2 -
Thank you for all the responses
The likelihood is that we would be OK I think, one way or the other if we didn't pre book
However, in the interests of peace of mind, I paid for the seat allocation on Virgin.

If I hadn't paid for a specific seat it may be different. We always pay for allocated seats because we prefer to sit in aisle seats.
