I was hoping someone could help me with this as I just can't get my head around it.

My post code region is CW12 2, which according to the https://www.energybrokers.co.uk/electricity/pes-areas/search?query=CW12+2 is in the 'Midlands' region. So far so good.

The current (up to June 30) tariff Energy Price Guarantee for electricity for 'Midlands' (as per the gov website https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/energy-price-guarantee-regional-rates/energy-price-guarantee-regional-rates-april-to-june-2023) appears to be -
31.25p + VAT / unit so 38.81p for 'Other Payment' (I'm assuming this is the DD rate)
33.80p + VAT / unit so 35.49p for 'Standard'

Gas is

I'm on the 'Eon Next Flex' variable rate for elec+gas which I assumed was the standard variable rate and hence should be the same as the EPG rates above. However, this is what the latest bill shows re my electricity tariff and gas tariff. The electricity unit rate (48p+VAT!) is way higher than the EPG and the gas one is slightly higher.

I would be grateful if someone could guide me on what I'm missing here, does the tariff on the bill look correct? Should it not match the EPG tariff?

No, because e.on don't show it like that.  They show you what the ofgem cap would be without the EPG and then give a discount on the bill to make it right.  Check your bill, not your tariff.

From July it will be right.

@csi_yorkshire Ah got it thank you! That's explains why I was struggling to match the new tariff they emailed me to the current one on the bill.
