I retire in 5 months . My mortgage is interest only. I tool it out 15 years ago with the plan to sell and pay back the loan. We have just been advised our building has the same material as the Grenville tower and we are not allowed to sell until this is fixed. The Scottish government is footing the bill. I pay £888.44 per month yo the mortgage and I only have state pension. Can anyone help / advise as I cannot pay this on my pension.
Kind Regards

The only thing that maybe possible to claim for help with the mortgage (interest only) is Support For Mortgage Interest (SMI)To claim this you must be claiming a qualifying means tested benefit, such as Pension credit. See link https://www.gov.uk/support-for-mortgage-interest/eligibility even this, it's just a loan which will need to be repaid back if you sell your home. You mention "we" in your post, are you living with a partner? Is your partner state pension age or below?
