House Insurance Quotes - Has the property been extended?

Trying to go through some comparison sites to get a new quote for my house and I'm weirdly stuck on this question. What timescale are they interested in?
Is it
- Since the property was originally built?
- Since you took possession?
- In the last... I don't know... 50 years?

I know my house was extended in ~1750 and again in ~1820 but it seems daft to mention that.

Reason they ask is that for some of the quotes they will estimate rebuilding costs using RICS data for your area, property type, when built, number of bedrooms etc.

They mean, has it ever been extended, so you would answer yes.

For a property of that age, you may find speaking to Insurers or Brokers a better option,  as you need to understand what level of Buildings Insurance you would need.  If there was a fire for example, the costs of rebuilding would be a lot more than you believe. Even if you had a survey 10 years ago which confirmed rebuilding cost and you have increased cover by general RICS index amount, the sum insured may not still be adequate.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
