What is your favourite travel insurance provider?

During my last holiday abroad my son became very ill with pneumonia, this resulted in my partner and him staying behind for almost 3 weeks. Fortunately he made a full recovery and my partner had family nearby who could put them up for a couple of weeks while he got cleared to fly.
This was the first time I'd ever had to make a claim on travel insurance and opened my eyes to the differences between each provider - we bought Platinum Travel Insurance from Admiral which I thought would be a great provider, but I was made aware of an item in the policy schedule (Associated travel and expenses costs was limited to £1000). This would get eaten up very quickly when you consider hotel, food and anything else you may need for a longer stay.
I'm curious to know what other travel insurance people are using and why they use them over any other provider.

Looking at Staysure ( just a random selection) they allow up to £2000 but it is for room only.
Food is you own responsibilty
There is also £50 per 24 hours stay as inpatient.
It is always best to read your policy document carefully to ensure you know what you are covered for.0 -
I get it through my bank (Barclays) - £12.50 a month for full RAC cover and worldwide travel insurance. I've never really looked at the T&C's. I've contacted them a few times about my OH's various ailments and they've always been great in including most of them. In reality, I only have it with them because it's cheap and and it covers both of us even if travelling separately, and also within the UK. Not had to use it yet though.0

Generally I prefer to go with Aviva or Coverforyou (underwritten by AXA). Have previously claimed on both and both were good and paid out.
However, I am currently insured with Staysure as Aviva/Coverforyou wouldn't provide cover as I was getting the insurance too far in advance
For medical - Associated costs and expenses with Aviva & Coverforyou Platnum is £10m. Staysure is £2k which is disappointingFTB - April 20200 -
Barclays "Travel Pack" are making changes to their insurance from 19 June 2023 on how they cover pre-existing medical conditions. Not sure on the implications of this on costs which will no doubt increase.0
