Fee-free debit card use abroad

^ just received the same email from Metro Bank as @martindow.   

So disappointing that Metro Bank will be removing this concession when using their debit card in Europe.  I'm sure at one time it was also free to use in the USA which is one of the reasons I opened the Metro Bank account in the first place.

Their decision to introduce this fee seems strange when First Direct have removed their fee use in Europe, and at a time when Chase, Starling and alike offer no-fees.  I thought they would want a stand out from the banking crowd offering something different - perhaps that is just the free dog biscuits.
