Brinimg UK bought duty free back into UK.

Options
Bought a few bottles of spirits in the UK duty free whilst travelling to the US, now realising that they wont get finished, so will be bringing them back home. They are still in the sealed bags they came in. Do we put them in hand luggage or baggage but open the bags and put them in seperate suitcases?

Thanks

Your duty free allowance can be found here -

If deciding to bring back bottles of spirits then I would wrap the bottles well (and separately) in something like a towel or clothing, then place in your checked luggage.

I suspect TSA would not honour the transit of the liquids through their security points even though you might have the liquid in sealed bags and with purchase receipts.

If the spirits were purchased in Duty Free in the UK won't there be duty to pay when bringing them back in?  Assuming the USA has the same 100ml limit on liquids in hand luggage you won't be able to put them in your hand luggage anyway.

Limits to the alcohol you can bring into the UK are as per the above. For spirits (over 22% ABV) its 4L per adult assuming no other alcohol is imported and so as long as the total is below this then it doesnt matter if they bought it in the UK duty free or from a store in the US

Put each bottle down a leg of trousers (thicker the better, jeans ideal), roll up and put in the middle of clothes in a suitcase.

Try to take it as hand luggage and it will be confiscated due to liquids limits.

Thought you meant the jeans they were wearing rather than in the suitcase  :p

No issues regarding bringing alcohol back, we do it all the time. As long as below four litres each.

Just remember to put in hold luggage not hand luggage.
