Nationwide - O/D recall without warning

Guys, I recieved an automated call last night when i got in saying i owe the bank the sum of my entire overdraft.
I've had NO letters or contact from them at all and im wondering where i stand! They appear to have closed my entire overdraft without reason.
Ive just paid a sum of money into the account so i can buy some christmas gifts and they have locked the money in.... Help

Surely Nationwide would not advise something like that by way of an automated call? Heaps of privacy and security implications, and probably against T&C's. I presume that you have called them and asked for an explanation?
