How long does a company have to collect goods incorrectly sent?

Hi
I have a situation i would like some advice on.
I have received goods from a company (value £2700) in the wrong size on 17/05/23
They have since sent the correct goods (received 24/05/23) and i sent address for collection of original delivery.
I have heard nothing since (now 05/06/23)
How long does the company have to collect the delivery before it becomes my property? Or is it my responsibility to chase them?
Thanks

It's a little complicated, but the upshot is that it's too soon to keep/sell/dispose of the goods and they don't become your property until you've jumped through some hoops. The company has up to six years to claim, but that doesn't mean you have to store them for that long. Someone will advise on the precise protocol but it involves writing to them setting out a deadline for collection or else you will dispose of them at a sensible price and retain the proceeds for their collection should they want them. Or keep them for your own use, but understand that they can collect them later and make a reasonable charge for any use you've had.
And no, you can't charge them for storage, before you ask...0 -
I wonder if they were delaying to ensure that you got the right size things before collecting anything - just in case you needed to return the second delivery as well. In which case it's only 6 working days since that delivery which included a week when kids are off school so they may well be short staffed. I'd give it another day or two and then chase asking them to confirm the time and date of pick up.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. You need to WRITE to them (email is ok) asking them to collect the incorrect goods within a sensible time frame (give them 28 days from email date). It might be sensible to send a copy in the post with proof of postage given the cost of the goods...
If we are talking about a bulky object that is impractical to store, then let them know in the letter what you plan to do with it after the 28 days e.g. if you do not collect within 28 days, the item will be sold for the highest possible price, then I will send you the money less an admin fee and selling costs.
If it's a small item them just keep it un-used then it's all yours after 6 years.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0
