I purchased a brand new iPad on eBay and it arrived even with the cellophane still intact over the box. After I turned it on to set it up, I discovered it has remote management control on it by some school. I contacted the seller and they refunded me, but did not want the item returned or send me a return address, they didn’t answer any messages just sent the refund and that was it, even when I asked where to return it they never replied. Meanwhile I have no clue what to do with this iPad now. Any suggestions on what I must do with it or can do with it, as it’s literally been sat on my table now still in the box and for a brand new iPad it just seems like a waste but I have no clue what to do about it now?

If you have your money back then and you don't know which school had the software put on it I would give it to the police and let them sort it out. Not holding out much hope though

Sounds like it could be stolen goods, hence the seller quick to refund and not want it back.
You could try contacting Apple, give them the serial number and see what they say.

That’s an idea to contact Apple I will ask them and see what they suggest
Yes given it was purchased from eBay I was really fortunate to be covered by the buyer protection in this situation. So so lucky in that sense. But now I’m so confused about what exactly I’m supposed to do with it as I surely don’t want it and wouldn’t use it

Handling stolen property - By all means contact the Police  on 101 and tell them -

Apple should be able to trace as it will have a serial number but I doubt they will help and may even refer it to the Police themselves

Thank you least I’ll contact apple support  and 101 and see what to do with it as eBay were not any help whatsoever when I asked well what am I meant to do with it now
  • Likely that it is enrolled in the Apple Device Manager - I use it for work devices and therefore Apple themselves may be able to trace the legit owners. Also report on eBay as this seller cannot be trusted.
