Travel insurance for December 2024

I’m planning to take a safari over Christmas 2024 but want to book the accommodation now. However, I can’t find any insurance companies that will allow me to take out a policy so far out. Any suggestions what I can do, apart from waiting until December?

is there a specific reason to book the accomodation so early? They may well exist but I can't see any insurance company who offers insurance that far out - so your other options would be to wait until you can get insurance or book it now and risk something happening between now and when you can insure the trip.

The safari lodge only has 10 rooms and as the booking will be for a special birthday and over Christmas I want to ensure I have a room
  • Would it work if you had travel insurance through a packaged bank account?

I would hope this far out any accommodation operator would require little more than a token deposit of an amount you can self insure for.

I wouldn't be paying it all now.

They require a 25% deposit which is about £600

Yeah the only other thing I can think of is getting an annual policy before you book that is effectively a 'burner' just to cover you for the time being but not sure if that's cost effective unless you are going to be travelling other places in the meantime?

If you are with Barclays, their travel pack is about £12 a month and gives worldwide travel cover (as well as full RAC breakdown cover for your car) and is continuous. Presumably other banks do similar.
