Just need some info at some point we will be transfered from tax credits to UC I will wait for the managed migration and payment protection as I know we will get less on UC have two children who get DLA and my wife works I do not as a carer I know they will have access to our bank accounts but is taht all tehy get access too? or can they ask for creditcard statements also and a list of what debt we owe and to whom?

They do not automatically have access to your bank accounts. They will not ask for credit card statements or want any information about what debt you owe, this is nothing to do with a UC claim.They don't usually ask for bank statements unless you have savings of more than £6,000. As a carer you will not have any claimant commiments.Your carers allowance will be deducted in full from any UC entitlement. You need to make sure you report being a carer when you do claim and your UC will include the carers element for yourself.If your other child also receives either mid/high rate care DLA then your wife can also claim carers element of UC for looking after them, if she cares for them for at least 35 hours per week. There's no maximum earnings limit when claiming carers element like there is when claiming carers allowance. You do not need to claim carers allowance to be entitled to carers element.1
