Hello,
I have finally managed to download a song I want.It was worth staying up until I found this great ITALA disco classic but It took 18 minutes and it was 10.2 mb. Is that good ,average or bad
(Not the song , the time my pc and ISP took!)

You need to provide more information.
Are you on dial up, broadband ADSL, Cable or Satellite and at what speed are you supposed to have (example i'm on broadband adsl at 8mb this gives 7mb sync and carring out a speed test gives just over 5mb download) check what speed you are achieving use this site http://www.speedtest.net/ lets know what the results are.0 -
it might have nothing to do with your PC. maybe the site you downloaded from was slow... Its near impossible to tell how good your speed is unless you do some speed tests0

Sounds to me like you might of been downloading a Torrent which is illegal but can be slow sometimes so im told :rolleyes:Don't listen to the bad things about Vista its the best
Just because it's free don't mean it's good

Does it matter if you got what you want ? As others have said it's dificult to answer without some more details of your setup. If you're on broadband of some sort it sounds slow to me but it depends where you downloaded it from. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
What was the result of the speed test or have you not bothered to carry this out.0

It was 1.937554Mb/s which seems pretty good..?

Speed test are often unreliable, but I'd say you're on 2 Mbit broadband, as that is what the speed test indicates, or you have faster broadband speed but either it's running like 2Mbit, the connection to the speed test site was congested or too many people were using the speed test at the same time.
The time taken to download the song was pretty high, it should have downloaded in 42 seconds if all was well. It's probable that the site you downloaded it from limits the speed it sends files out (limits it's bandwidth) could be your connection was congested at the time, the link from your ISP to the site was congested. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Best way to test your real speed is to download from somewhere with fast servers e.g. apple:
http://www.apple.com/au/quicktime/download/ (Quicktime standalone player, uncheck the boxes before downloading.)
And the test file(s) halfway down the page here:
http://support.easystreet.com/speedtest.htm
Check the maximum speed in KB/s and take a note of it.
The next step is to find out the advertised speed from your broadband company e.g. 2Mb.
If you can tell us these two things (speed achieved, speed advertised) we will be able to let you know if your download speed is ok. Otherwise we wont be able to help unfortunately.

it wont matter even if if you are on a genuine 8mb connection. if the server BW is slow then thats the fastest your DL will be.
if you were in a ferrari on the M25 at 0800hrs on a monday, you get the same speed as the traffic allows.Get some gorm.0
