Everything Covered in Shiny Stuff !!!!!

Everything in my garden and even my garden furniture and the car is covered in a hard shiny substance....just as if sugared water has been jet sprayed every where.
All my plants are fine but any idea what it could be..?? I googled "honey dew" but these aphids would have to have a crop dusting plane

Just to eliminate the obvious, there's not been an explosion in the slug population that you know of? The large yellowish spanish slugs seems to produce a lot of slime and it can dry hard and shiny like sugar syrup.

Here the warm dry weather has made an explosion of aphids and of course we're feeding the birds so they are less interested in the hard work of eating bugs.
Here the car is permanently spattered with sticky stuff and the plants covered in it over the top of their leaves the underside covered in aphids.
We've really made a mess of nature and now it's making a mess for us

possibly a silly question.... are you near any trees?
 I'm thinking of something like lime trees because they produce sticky stuff from the flowers. I can remember parking my car underneath some this time of year: a bad move!!
 I am sure there are other trees that can cause similar problems.
