Different Suppliers for House / Garage can I merge?

Hi, I've just moved house and my new place has a separate garage in a block which has it's own energy supply (with e.on) and my house is with Octopus as it stands. I've had the welcome letters from both and e.on estimates the garage's yearly cost at around £200 which I guess is mainly the standing charges?

I am wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to switch them to one supplier and one set of standing charges, seems a lot to pay for occasionally  turning on the light in the garage!

TIA

Whilst switching to one supplier may be more convenient, it won't make much difference to the cost of paying two standing charges.

Is there any way that you can run the house electricity supply to the garage?

If not, if the only requirement for the garage is a light, what about installing a rechargeable light in the garage? You could then get the garage electricity supply disconnected.

Do you actually need a supply in the garage? If you only use it for storage and not as a workshop then it might be possible to get the meter removed. You can use a torch if you ever need to go in when it's dark.

I think it's too far to use the same supply

Ah yeah that may be the way forward! I can't see us using it for anything other than storage really, thanks!

That's a good point and a good idea I think, we've only been here a week but realistically I can't see us using it for anything other than storage so that might be what we do, it's too far from the house to use practically I think!
