I completed my first online Morrisons order this weekend and noticed that doorstep adjustment on the order screen but it wasn't on the receipt in the end. It was a bit off-putting to see it there in the first place.

The one thing I need to know is - they processed a pending amount on my card soon after the order cut off time passed but when will they adjust it to match the receipt total now that delivery is complete?
Most supermarkets do the same, estimated total shows as pending and then the day of delivery it’s updated to the actual amount and is then taken from your credit card/bank. They can’t take it until delivery as any returns, changes in prices, changes in weights etc will then be processed.

I don’t use Morrisons anymore as I found them expensive and then they closed my account as they found is suspicious that I ordered cigarettes every week. I use Asda now as it’s cheaper, better quality and if you get subs you pay the original price even if the sub is higher priced but they also state that the funds have to be available 24 hours before delivery.

Sadly I am limited on options, I cant use companies that insist on delivering my food loose in big heavy crates.

Good news though that the doorstep fee just seems to be a holding fee in case of subs.
To be honest, I am amazed that Morrisons still deliver in bags. I’ve only ever had crate deliveries from them. May I ask why you are saying big heavy crates when you don’t have to lift them? My Asda driver puts the crates down and waits for me to empty them onto my trolley/bags as do all of the supermarkets, on saying that, Ocado still do bags
It's Ocado that do the deliveries for Morrisons.

Yours turn up in Ocoda vans or they do it in Morrisons vans?

Yep as far as I know Iceland is bagged, Ocado is bagged, Morrisons i bagged (at least in my area), in addition deliveroo, uber eats etc. all bagged regardless of where order comes from.  Tesco and Asda are the odd one's out not the norm.

Its the same drivers, both vans come out from the Ocado depot, just different coloured vans and all drivers have 2 uniforms depending on which del van they are taking out. Morrisons customers assume their delivery is coming from the Morrisons store but they are not.

Oh I already know they not coming from stores which I like as the food is basically fresher and really rare is any substitutes.  My date on bread e.g. is typically 6 days, tesco and asda would be lucky to get 3 days.

On a few occasions I have ordered some bits with deliveroo which does come from the store and dates are notably worse.

Interesting to learn they basically outsourced the deliveries.

It probably varies from area to area, as Ocado don't operate in this area and the Morrisons vans sit in the Morrisons carpark here.

Mine are Morrisons vans and home deliveries are from the store and only Ocado comes in Ocado vans from a depot. Well that used to be the case, but to be honest I don’t use Morrisons anymore so it may well if changed now.

It has changed. My son is employed by Ocado  but Ocado now have Morrisons contract for delivery. He has 2 uniforms and wears the green one if he is going out in a Morrisons van and the purple grey if he is scheduled out in an Ocado van. The deliveries come up from Hertfordshire ready for the customers and are offloaded into the delivery vans at the depot he works out of. He often has issues with customers assuming he has come from the store and sometimes gets asked if he can 'Pop back and bring me another milk/bag of potatoes' etc.  The customers assume he has just come from the local store but his delivery area on any given day can be around 150 miles.

My drivers come from a neighbouring city, so further indication isnt from a local store, its not even coming from the same county. :)

I assumed that Sainsbury's deliveries come from the store a mile away but they come from a bigger store 15 miles away. Iceland deliveries come from the local store. Waitrose delivery come from the store in next town. Ocado is delivered from depot on other side of the county. ASDA from local store. Iceland routinely arrives without any subs or missing items. Iceland and Ocado orders are bagged.

Ok well I know its Ocado anyway, as they bagged and Morrisons confirmed to me when I queried.  Its also kind of obvious with lack of substitutes and the good dates.  Massive difference in service quality from a distribution centre vs a supermarket.

Iceland, Asda, Tesco I have all used and consistently had sub problems.

Out of the three Tesco is by far the worse, when I last used them, more than half of sku's on the website were a vague "not available" and had a slightly over 30% of order substitute rate, dates were consistently very bad, wasnt unusual for bread to be dated same day as delivery, and even when date was more reasonable bread was always hard and stale like they had storage issues.  Someone on this forum who works for tesco hinted at the problem, they suggested I checked the click and collect, and lo and behond there was things suddenly in stock, then the person confirmed its likely my delivery store has severe stocking issues probably due to too high demand for the store size.

Iceland very good prices, and bagged, but they were having consistent stock issues on some sku's I liked week after week, admitted to me over the phone they had a policy of reserving stock for in store customers, I appreciated the honesty but it was confirmed I was a second class customer, I limited using them to only specific occasions.

Asda out of the three the least bad with stock, date's were inconsistent, so could be good, but also could be bad, although typically never as bad as tesco, was acceptable service for me until they stopped bagging deliveries.

So really now because of bagging my three options are morrisons, ocado and iceland.  Of which I think the first is my preference.
