    There are various online shops.
Some are cheaper than others, though if the machine you wish to upgrade is older than the ark, then the only place will be eBay.

Also worth noting some computer systems are totally bespoke and have no upgradeability.

How about a Raspberry Pi ?
a Pi 4 Model B 8Gb will easily outperform any PC that you can obtain or upgrade too - and costs just £75 !
    They are designed for Linux

    ???

    I seriously doubt that.

    Here is a comparison between a Pi4 and a celeron N5105

I'm sure the ancient i5-4690k I'm using now would make a pi4 look pedestrian.

Now in terms of performance per watt, the Pi4 would win easily, not in actual performance.

The bench marks you've linked to are a bit biased because the Cinebench are designed to test a processor render ability.  The Pi 4 isn't designed for that intensive stuff.  The Celeron can, though there are better options than that.

While its true the Pi4 is quite powerful for what it is, ultimately in computing you get what you pay for and the end result of what to buy is what you want it for.  Tinkering, mini projects, retro gaming, yes it's for for that, and it'll cope with writing blog posts, articles, light things like that (including its original aim - programming).  Beyond that though you're into the realms of more powerful hardware.

Those benchmark scores appear to be based on Windows - the Pi 4 is not designed for windows - it  boots up in less than 5 seconds and is instant in response - you can't say that about the celeron

A Pi cannot possibly outperform a typical pc in terms of processing power. For processing power you need cores and a higher frequency clock coupled with a reasonable amount of fast memory. (Which is where the money goes if you need the performance)

A Pi will use less energy doing the job it is designed for
I won't argue that it will boot up quicker. My old BBC model B will boot up quicker than any PC I've ever had, by the time I could move my hand from the switch at the back to the keyboard it was ready to go.

The OP never said what they are trying to update from, or what they want to use the linux system for, so no-one can advise realistically.

No answer from the OP from the two questions asked which are relevant unlike the side posts
