  • I agree Fermi they must have confused the BR with the IPA. Definatley let them know Craig.

Is your job office based? Do you have to wear suits? Then you need to alow for dry cleaning. My up your clothes budget a bit. Add an allowance for prescriptions, opticians and dentist. Will your fares go up if you are working? Your housekeeping budget is awfully low you could up that a bit to allow for the extra washing powder maybe food at work (trying to think of other ways to up that budget) You have no contents insurance either. How about £20 towards a modest holiday.

    Hope some of that helps

Here's a couple of links for you to look at and get some ideas.

Thanks for the links, good stuff.
  • Not meaning to be nosy but what about your rent? As this will chnage your SOA. On the BR board on here I have seen many more things included in the list, including haircuts, insurances, holidays etc

God forbid someone has to pay something back.......

MS we are just making sure that the OP is aware of what the law allows him as he will not beable to get any credit for a long while. Once that is sorted then we can work out what he has to pay back.

Hi I would put H/K up to £ 200, holiday £ 20, Tvlic £ 12, Haircuts £10, personal exp £ 40, and would think about some house ins.

Remember you dont have to agree to an IPA,you could let the court decide. Remind your OR that you should be allowed to have a fresh start and not be so stricktly limited as your original SOA.

Even if he has a point, it's being made badly & in the wrong place. Commenting/complaining that those paying off their debts aren't given allowances for haircuts etc is ridiculous - they're dealing with their debts one way & we've dealt with ours another. Neither is more right than the other - it's what's most appropriate to the individual's circumstances, & only they can know that.

The law gives these allowances, not anyone on this forum - all we're doing is making sure they claim their allowances, so that they can get an idea of what they may have to pay if an IPA is put in place. Their original post makes it clear they may have been badly advised, so all anyone is doing is clarifying the position for them, & trying to put their mind at ease. That's what the board is for.
