    I think we are of the same thinking.  Refusal to carry a passenger and/or ban follows a valid reason, e.g disruptive passenger, safety concerns.

    I thought you'd mentioned something along the lines of OP's son not knowing about the ban/the reason, probably an indication it's not a good idea to post when tired :)

    Agreed in principle - without the airline's side of the incident it's hard to speculate on the absolute rights and wrongs of this sad story.
    The OP did say there was no prior warning - however one may have been given but not received.
    Safety considerations override all other issues.
