should I exchange today (friday)

i have the chance to exchange today, which would be ideal before the holiday season. I am not in a chain, so I am not forced to exchange
the three reasons I have not to exchange today are:
1. the vendor says via his solicitors that he has carried out works which I am yet to inspect.
2. i havent tested the services - should this be done before exchange or can I do this prior to completion with the same effect?
3. the property will remain empty over the holiday period. if I dont exchange then the vendor will have more reason to keep an eye on it.

Unless you want in to decorate etc I'd wait till all tested etc. Safer to wait a week.
(No I wouldn't I'd want it NOW but that's just me)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

no harm in waiting 2 weeks as long as you are not in a race"enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0

I'd want to get in as soon as possible but would probably wait to make sure I'd checked everything out, especially if you're not actually going to need to be in there until the New Year.
Also, you can then delay your buildings insurance until you do exchange.Old enough to know better, too young to care!0 -
I would exchange if you think the seller would get aggrieved.
If not make it clear why you are waiting and agree a date to exchange first week in Jan subject to conditions as above.0
