Outlook emails

Until a few days ago, it was fine. Then I received an email, went to click on it to read, don't know what I did wrong but the email disappeared before I'd read it. As I'd already seen who it was from, I was able to find it by using the search box. Since then, I have received a couple of emails in my inbox but another one I had to search for.
This morning, it's showing I have an email but the email itself is not showing. I think I know who it could be from but searching has not shown it. Also searched for other people but nothing. Can anyone help me please?

First, are you using an outlook app or www.outlook.com ?  If an app, try www.outlook.com.  If the Inbox has 2 tabs - Focussed and Other, look in both.  Then click Filter and check its set to All

Forgot to say, it's on a desktop computer and yes, it's outlook.com. Inbox does have 2 tabs Focused and Other and filter is set to all and have checked both.
Just need the emails to appear at the top of my inbox like they used to.
