What size window for three panels?

Can anyone suggest the minimum size for a three pane window which looks correct? I was thinking about 4ft 6" (1370mm) but noow beginning to worry that might look a bit short for the height. Knocking two windows into one so can build the width as required, height is 980mm. Idea is too have two opening windows on each side and one fixed pane in the middle with a fan-light above it.

Styles vary, as does taste.
What are you like with the software 'Paint'? If you take a straight-on pic of that whole side of your house, then it's pretty straight forward to cut&paste the existing window to make it look like roughly the variations you want.
Also consider the inside - do you want a certain size of return on the window wall?
If you post photos on here, we can have a look?0 -
I think I'd prefer a photo of the house as the visual success of these things are often dictated more by the other proportions of the house than desire to have a 'three pane window'.A typical size would be 180cm though. Enough ratio of glass to sightlines.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I have a 3 pane window in my study which is 170cm wide and has the two outer panes opening. I wouldn't go much narrower than this as when you take into account the frames in between panes, each actual glass part you can look through is 42cm wide0

Haven't knocked the two existing windows into one yet as obviously need to determine the size first.ThisIsWeird said:Styles vary, as does taste.
