Just opened a Smartsave fixed rate 1 year bond. Before making a transfer I decided to carry out out a review. I should have done this first, having checked on Trustpilot it seems they are a bit hit and miss. Has anyone on the site have any experience dealing with them?

Not had any dealings with them.
The fact they didn’t have a contract number puts me off.

Be aware that they only allow you to have one SmartSave account open at a time, so if you use this one, you can't use them for any other length account during that year. Though this doesn't apply to you, they're useless at explaining how they're going to report the interest on multi-year accounts.

I've been opening a 2 year fixed rate account today.....all good but then to transfer the money you have to send to an account in the name of Chetwood Financial Ltd quoting a reference number......doesn't feel right.....has anyone else done this without problems......

Perfectly normal to use a pooled account for depositing with smaller banks. Smartsave is owned by Chetwood

Opened an account with SmartSave to take advantage of the 6.% interest rate for 1 year they're offering. Had no problem opening the account but my bank blocked the transfer as they couldn't match the sort code and account number and blocked my internet banking!  I understand why the company, Chetwood Financial Ltd, use Barclays as they are not a clearing bank but Lloyds Fraud department rang me very nervous and advised not to go ahead, so I cancelled the transfer. Their registration with companies house and FSCA  looks ok so I emailed Chewood Financial and still awaiting a reply.........
